About Tarangire National Park
Home to the Great Migration — over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross these endless plains annually. The Serengeti is arguably Africa’s most famous safari destination, covering 14,763 km² of savanna, woodland, and riverine forest. Famous for big cats, especially lion prides and cheetahs hunting on the open savanna. The park’s ecosystem supports one of the highest concentrations of large mammals on the planet.
Location
Located in the Mara Region of northern Tanzania, bordering Kenya’s Maasai Mara to the north. The park lies west of Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Best Time to Visit
How to Reach
Fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, then take a charter flight to one of the park’s airstrips (Seronera, Kogatende, Grumeti). Overland drives from Arusha take 7–8 hours via Ngorongoro.
