Why we write

Accurate, lived-in information about East African tourism

East Africa is one of the most written-about and most misunderstood travel regions on earth. A quick search returns a sea of recycled itineraries, outdated park fees, and AI-generated lodge recommendations from people who have never actually slept in the tent they are selling you. We decided to do the opposite.

Everything on this journal is written by guides, camp managers, and trip designers who live and work between Arusha, Nairobi, Kigali, and Kampala. We have walked the routes, eaten in the lodges, met the rangers, and tracked the migration through every season.
