About Mnemba Atoll Marine Reserve
Just off the northeast coast of Zanzibar, Mnemba Atoll Marine Reserve is one of East Africa’s premier snorkeling and diving destinations. Surrounded by turquoise waters and thriving coral reefs, this protected marine sanctuary is home to an incredible diversity of tropical marine life.

Location
Off the northeast coast of Unguja Island, about 3 km offshore. The atoll is a small triangular island within a larger reef system.
Best Time to Visit
October–March for whale sharks. June–October for best visibility. Diving is excellent year-round.
How to Reach
Boat trips depart from Matemwe or Nungwi on the northeast coast of Unguja (15–30 minutes). Day trips from Stone Town take 1–1.5 hours by road + boat.
