Your driver will welcome you, assist with your luggage and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha. If you arrive early enough, you can relax at the lodge or enjoy a little time exploring the town.

Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Elephants and Baobabs

After breakfast, your safari guide will meet you at your accommodation and brief you about the journey ahead. You will then drive to Tarangire National Park, a landscape of open savannah, seasonal river systems, woodland and impressive baobab trees.

Once inside the park, enjoy a game drive as your guide helps you search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, antelopes and other wildlife. Tarangire is particularly well known for its elephant populations, and the Tarangire River attracts animals when water becomes scarce elsewhere.

Your guide will explain how wildlife adapts to the changing seasons and how the river and surrounding vegetation support the animals living here. You will stop at suitable places for wildlife viewing and photography, with a picnic lunch arranged during the day.

In the late afternoon, leave the park and continue to your lodge for dinner and a restful evening near Ngorongoro highland.

Tarangire to Serengeti National Park – Into the Endless Plains

In the morning you will leave Tarangire and travel towards Serengeti National Park. The journey takes you through changing landscapes, with opportunities to appreciate rural Tanzania and the scenery of the Great Rift Valley region, depending on the route taken.

After entering the Serengeti, your safari continues with wildlife viewing along the way to your camp or lodge. The Serengeti is famous for its wide grasslands, large herds of grazing animals and predators, including lions, cheetahs and leopards.

Your guide will help you read the landscape and look for signs of animal activity, such as fresh tracks, alarm calls and movements among the herds. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but travelling with an experienced guide can help you make the most of the day.

Arrive at your accommodation in the Serengeti in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on road conditions, your energy, wildlife stops and your camp’s location.

Serengeti Safari – Discover the Wildlife all day

Today is dedicated to exploring the Serengeti. After breakfast, head out with your guide for a full day of game viewing, with time to explore different areas of the park according to wildlife activity and your camp’s location.

The Serengeti is home to a wide range of animals, including lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest and many bird species. With patience and good observation, you may also encounter cheetahs or leopards resting in trees or moving through the grasslands.

Your guide will share knowledge about predator behaviour, the relationships between grazing animals and their environment, and the seasonal movements of the Great Migration. If your visit coincides with the herds’ movement through the area, you may see large groups of wildebeest and zebras. Their location changes throughout the year, so I will recommend the most suitable area for your travel dates.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in an approved location or return to camp for lunch if that better suits the day’s plan. Continue your game drive in the afternoon to late afternoon before returning to your accommodation.

Ngorongoro Crater Safari – Return to Arusha

Start the day early and travel towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive across its grasslands, wetlands, woodland and other habitats.

The crater supports a remarkable concentration of wildlife. With your guide, you will look for lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and a variety of birdlife. Ngorongoro is also one of Tanzania’s important places to look for the endangered black rhinoceros, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Your guide will explain how the crater formed, how its habitats support wildlife and why conservation is important in this area. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated site before continuing your game drive.

After several hours exploring, leave the crater and drive back to Arusha. This is a long but rewarding day, so I recommend keeping the evening relaxed.

Once you have checked in, the rest of the day is yours. Relax by the pool, walk along the beach, enjoy the sea views or simply take time to recover from your safari.

Kendwa is a good option for travellers who want a beach setting with a lively atmosphere nearby, while Kiwengwa offers a long stretch of coastline with a range of resorts. I can help you choose the area that best suits your preferred holiday style.

Scuba diving Aaound Tumbatu Island

Today, enjoy a half-day scuba-diving experience around Tumbatu Island, off the north-west coast of Zanzibar. After breakfast, your transfer or dive operator will take you to the agreed departure point for your marine adventure.

With a qualified dive team, explore the underwater world and look for colourful reef fish, corals and other marine life. The experience will depend on your certification level, the dive operator’s assessment and the sea conditions. If you are new to scuba diving, tell me in advance so I can help arrange a suitable beginner experience where available.

After your dive, return to shore around midday or early afternoon and travel back to your accommodation. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing on the beach or enjoying the facilities at your resort.

Zanzibar spice farm, local lunch and nungwi turtle visit

After breakfast, discover one of Zanzibar’s best-known traditions: spice farming. At a local spice farm, your guide will introduce you to plants such as cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom and other tropical spices, depending on what is growing during your visit.

You will learn how these plants are cultivated and used in local cooking and everyday life. Afterwards, enjoy a local lunch featuring Zanzibar-inspired flavours.

Later, continue to the Nungwi area to visit a turtle facility, where you can learn about sea turtles, their environment and the conservation work taking place. Any close encounter or swimming activity will depend on the facility’s rules, the animals’ welfare and the conditions on the day. I recommend choosing responsible interactions that do not disturb or stress the turtles. After the visit, return to your accommodation and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Snorkelling in the Mnemba island area

Today is all about Zanzibar’s marine life. After breakfast, travel to the departure point for your snorkelling excursion in the waters around Mnemba Island.

The area is known for clear tropical waters and coral reef habitats. With your boat crew or local marine guide, you will have the opportunity to snorkel and look for colourful reef fish and other marine life. Visibility and wildlife sightings vary with the weather, tides and sea conditions.

Mnemba Island itself is privately managed, and access to the island and specific reef areas may be restricted. Your excursion will therefore take place at permitted snorkelling locations in the surrounding area, as allowed by local regulations and conditions.

After your time on the water, return to shore and head back to your accommodation. Spend the late afternoon relaxing on the beach.

Enjoy a full day to yourself on Zanzibar. After several days of safari and planned activities, today gives you the freedom to slow down and enjoy the island at your own pace.

Spend time swimming, sunbathing, reading by the pool or walking along the beach. If you would like to do more, I can help arrange an optional activity such as a dhow cruise, a visit to Stone Town, or another marine excursion, depending on your interests and available time.

You can also keep the day completely free and enjoy your resort. I recommend confirming any optional activities before your trip if you have a particular experience in mind.
