9-Day Private Luxury Safari with Handpicked Lodges

Tanzania’s Iconic Safari Collection

Comfort tier:

This 9-day private Tanzania safari combines three of Northern Tanzania’s most celebrated wildlife destinations with a selection of carefully chosen safari lodges and camps.

From the peaceful gardens of Legendary Lodge in Arusha, travel into the baobab landscapes of Tarangire, spend time in the Ngorongoro Highlands, and continue into the wide-open plains of the Serengeti.

The itinerary is designed with comfort and space in mind. You will not be moving every day, giving you time to enjoy your accommodation as well as the wildlife. A full leisure day at Tarangire Treetops allows you to slow down, enjoy the setting and recover between safari days, while three nights in the Serengeti give you more time to explore without constantly packing and unpacking.

With a private 4×4 vehicle and experienced safari guide, your game drives can be adjusted around the season, wildlife movements and your interests. It is a safari for travellers who want to combine excellent wildlife viewing with beautiful accommodation, personal service and a relaxed pace.

What makes this journey unforgettable

Your journey, day by day

1

Arrive in Tanzania – Welcome to Arusha

Your Tanzania adventure begins when you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK). Your private safari guide will meet you and welcome you to Tanzania before transferring you to your lodge in Arusha.

This first evening is intentionally relaxed. After your international journey, there is no need to rush into the safari. Settle into Legendary Lodge or Similar lodge, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and prepare for the days ahead.

If your arrival time allows, you can enjoy the lodge gardens, relax by the pool or simply take some time to recover from your journey.

Arusha to Tarangire – Into the Land of Baobabs

After breakfast, meet your private guide and begin your journey towards Tarangire National Park. The drive takes you from the green surroundings of Arusha towards the drier landscapes of northern Tanzania.

Tarangire is known for its impressive baobab trees, open grasslands and seasonal wetlands. It is particularly famous for its elephants, but the park also supports large numbers of zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, impala and other wildlife. Lions are regularly seen, while leopard and cheetah are possible with a little patience and good guiding.

Depending on your arrival time, you will enjoy your first game drive before continuing to your lodge.

A Day to Relax at Tarangire Treetops

Today is deliberately different.

There is no scheduled game drive, giving you time to enjoy the lodge and the natural surroundings at a slower pace. After several days of travelling, this is an opportunity to sleep a little longer, enjoy a relaxed breakfast and take in the views around Tarangire Treetops.

You can spend the day enjoying the lodge facilities, relaxing in your private accommodation or simply sitting back and watching the surrounding wilderness.

For travellers who prefer some gentle activity, optional experiences may be available depending on the lodge and current park conditions.

This day also gives you flexibility. If you would prefer to replace the leisure time with a game drive, your safari can be adjusted accordingly.

In the evening, enjoy dinner at the lodge and another peaceful night in Tarangire.

Tarangire to the Ngorongoro Highlands

After breakfast, leave Tarangire and continue towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

The journey takes you through rural landscapes and local communities before climbing into the cooler volcanic highlands. The scenery changes noticeably as you gain altitude, with greener landscapes and forest-covered slopes surrounding the Ngorongoro area.

Arrive at your lodge and take time to settle in. The rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy the surroundings or simply relax before tomorrow’s crater experience.

The contrast between Tarangire’s drier landscapes and the cool Ngorongoro Highlands makes this part of the journey feel like a completely different Tanzania.

5

Ngorongoro Crater – Wildlife in a Volcanic World

After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for one of the defining experiences of your safari.

The crater is a vast volcanic caldera with open grasslands, woodland, wetlands and permanent water. These different habitats support a remarkable concentration of wildlife.

Your private guide will take you across the crater floor in search of lions, elephants, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippos and other wildlife. With good fortune, you may also see the endangered black rhino.

Enjoy a picnic lunch during the day before continuing your game drive.

Later, ascend towards the crater rim and return to your lodge. Spend the evening enjoying the cool highland air and relaxing after a full day of wildlife viewing.

6

Ngorongoro → Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, leave the Ngorongoro Highlands and continue west towards Serengeti National Park.

As you approach the Serengeti, the landscape begins to open up into vast grasslands stretching towards the horizon. Wildlife viewing can begin even before reaching your camp, making the journey into the Serengeti part of the safari experience.

Your guide will take advantage of suitable wildlife opportunities along the route while keeping the day’s journey comfortable.

Continue towards Serengeti Moru or Seronera, where you will spend the next three nights.

After arriving, settle into your tent and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Serengeti.

Discover the Serengeti Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Today is dedicated to discovering the Serengeti.

After breakfast, head out with your private guide for a full day of game viewing. There is no fixed route because wildlife movements change from day to day. Your guide will use local knowledge and current conditions to select the areas most suitable for your safari.

The Serengeti is home to large populations of lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebra and wildebeest. Cheetahs and leopards can also be seen, while the chance of seeing different wildlife varies with location and season.

If your visit coincides with the Great Migration, your guide can follow the movement of the herds according to the season.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing with your afternoon game drive. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and a peaceful night in the Serengeti.

A Flexible Day in the Serengeti

Enjoy another full day in the Serengeti, with the flexibility to shape the day around your interests and energy.

For an early start, you can choose an optional hot-air balloon safari over the Serengeti. Floating above the plains at sunrise offers a completely different perspective of the landscape and wildlife. After the balloon experience, return to the lodge for breakfast and some well-earned leisure time.

Alternatively, begin the day with a morning game drive with your private guide before returning to the lodge for a hot lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

Later in the day, you can choose between heading out for a late-afternoon game drive when the temperatures begin to cool and wildlife becomes active again, or staying at the lodge to relax and enjoy your final afternoon in the Serengeti.

This flexible day allows you to enjoy the Serengeti at your own pace, combining wildlife, comfort and time to simply appreciate being in the heart of the park.

Final Serengeti Morning – Return to Arusha Serengeti → Arusha

Enjoy your final morning in the Serengeti before beginning your journey back to Arusha.

Depending on your departure schedule, you can choose to have a short morning game drive before leaving the park. This gives you one last opportunity to enjoy the Serengeti and perhaps see wildlife during the cooler morning hours.

You then have two options for returning to Arusha.

By road: Continue by private safari vehicle, enjoying the changing landscapes as you travel from the Serengeti through the Ngorongoro area and onwards to Arusha. Your guide can make stops along the way for lunch and refreshments.

By flight: For a quicker and more comfortable journey, you can take a scheduled or charter flight from the Serengeti to Arusha, depending on flight availability and your travel plans. This option gives you more time in Arusha or makes onward connections easier.

Your safari ends in Arusha, where we can arrange your hotel transfer or onward connection according to your plans.
